Financing The German Federal Ministery of Education, Science, Research and Technology (BMBF) is supporting the project as an ecosystems research center since 1/1/1900. The Ministery of Education, Culture, Science and art of the State of Bavaria has signed a lease on the property and finances the costs of cultivation for the next 15 years. Also, the GSF-National Research Center for Environment and Health and the Technical University of Munich at Freising-Weihenstephan contribute substantial parts of their own funds to this research project.
The FAM Research Project is accepted as part of the Man and Biosphere (MAB) program by the UNESCO.

FAM Aim is the investigation of the ecological effects resulting from two different cultivation systems. This takes place in along-term experiment on a landscape scale. Additionaly, strategies of cultivation should be developed which combine economical benefits with the preservation and regeneration of natural resources.
